Kapur (71) missed the cut by just one shot with a total of four-under 212 in tied 70th place. Rai, playing here for the first time, carded 72 and crashed out at four-over 220. In the third round, Kapur played at Kingsbarns and Rai played at Carnoustie.
The pros play three rounds, one each at St. Andrews, Carnoustie and Kingsbarns before the cut is applied and the final round is played again at St. Andrews.
Meanwhile, the 24-year-old Branden Grace will take a four shot lead into the final round of the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. And among his admirers was Ernie Els who praised his fellow South African after another impressive show. Grace continued to dominate an event he has led since his opening 60 at Kingsbarns on Thursday.
Grace (69) is now at 20-under and takes a four stroke advantage over Dane Thorbj
