Members cutting across party lines backed the resolution, moved by Gulihatti D Shekhar (Ind).

The Supreme Court recently refused to direct the SEC to defer polls till such time, setting the stage for the polls, and also directed the state government to furnish within two days to the SEC the final list of ward reservations.

The government subsequently filed a review petition before the apex court seeking 15 days' time.

Crux of the members' contention, as also that of the Government as is made known in recent weeks, is that many of the ULBs would be eligible for upgradation based on the 2011 population and also that SCs, STs and OBCs will be deprived of reservation quota if polls are to be held as per the 2001 census.

The unananimous adoption of the resolution, announced by the Speaker K G Bopaiah, would now be communicated to the SEC, it was stated.
