Karna govt failed to prevent violence against Tamils: BJP

: BJP today charged the Congress government in Karnataka with having failed to prevent violence against Tamils on Cauvery water row.
President of the party's local unit V Saminathan said in a release here that the Karnataka government, instead of obeying the Supreme court's directive to release the specified quantity of water Tamilnadu "has acted in such a manner as to dislocate the implementation of the court order".
He said the BJP condemns the violence against Tamils and damage to their properties in that state
Saminathan demanded that the Karnataka government take stern steps against those who had resorted to violence.

He said people from different states have been living cordially with the locals in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. Hence Karnataka government should take steps to ensure that people from other states lived in peace there, he said.
Saminathan said the supreme Court order directive was only after studying the full facts of the issue.
