Karnataka Minister Zameer Ahmed Khan has triggered a controversy by making certain alleged personal remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, prompting the state BJP to petition the Election Commission Saturday seeking necessary action.
In a letter to the state Chief Electoral Officer, BJP state election committee convener Dattaguru Hegde said Khan, a Congress leader, made the remarks at a public meeting in Haveri and which were telecast by some local TV channels.
"It is an attack on personal life, the statement is malicious, offending decency and morality," he said.
In the letter, a copy of which was circulated to the media, Hegde urged the CEO to direct the concern authorities to take necessary action against Khan and restrict him from campaigning as early as possible.
