Karnataka CM in Delhi amid 'demands' for his removal

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is said to have got the backing of the Congress High Command amid reports that some state leaders are lobbying for his removal from the post.
An indication to this effect came after the CM's meeting here today with party general secretary Digvijay Singh, who is also the in-charge of party affairs in the state.
Siddharamaiah, who is the capital, had also met party chief Sonia Gandhi and party vice-president Rahul Gandhi.
When asked about reports of some senior state leaders lobbying for Siddaramaiah's removal, Singh remarked, "There is no vacancy".
On Cabinet reshuffle in the state, he said, "Reshuffle is completely the chief minister's discretion and the high command will not interfere."

There are three vacancies in the Council of Ministers and some reports claim that Siddaramaiah is expected to drop three ministers from his Cabinet. In all, Siddaramaiah plans to induct six ministers.

When asked whether Karnataka PCC chief G Parmeshwar will be getting a second term, "There is still some time for his term to be over."
Some reports have claimed that the Dalit leader was lobbying for a second term as PCC Chief after his plea for making him deputy chief minister in Siddaramaiah-led government did not find favour with the leadership.
Karnataka and Kerala are the two major states among the eight where the Congress is in power. While it is in power on its own in Karnataka, in Kerala it is leading the ruling United Democratic Front.
