Karnataka legislature budget session from July 12

The new Congress government's maiden budget session of Karnataka legislature will begin on July 12.
Briefing reporters after a cabinet meeting, Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs T B Jayachandra said the session would last till July 30.
He said the cabinet rejected Karnataka High Court appointed Task Force's recommendation to prohibit elephants from carrying the 750 kg golden howdah during the famous annual Dasara procession in Mysore.
Jayachandra said the cabinet also decided to provide free Engineering seat to Rakshita, one of the two students injured in the bomb blast near BJP office in Malleswaram in April.
"The government will also give compensation of Rs one lakh and reimburse medical bills," he said.
N S Leesha is the other injured girl, whose leg was severed in the blast. "We will also provide free engineering seat to Leesha as well once she clears her test," Jayachandra said. Sixteen people had suffered injuries in the blast ahead of the May 5 Assembly polls in Karnataka.
He said the cabinet approved setting up of a sub-Committee for disaster management and opening of nine Morarji Desai and Kittur Rani Chennamma Residential schools in the state.
The minister added that it was decided to allot 10 acres of land for setting up of National Skill Development Centre in Chickballapur under Prime Minister's National Council for Skill Development scheme.
