"There is a free movement of foodgrains in the country. The Centre has permitted rice exports. As a result of which, the prices of some variety of rice particularly Sona Masuri has increased," Minister for Food and Civil Supplies D N Jeevaraj told reporters here.
The state government has requested the Centre to review its policy on rice export to stabilise prices in the local market as Sona Masuri rice has touched Rs 52 per kg in the state, he said.
