Karpeh guide Sporting to 3-2 win over United SC

Boima Karpeh struck twice to guide Sporting Clube de Goa to a close 3-2 win over United SC in the opening Pool B quarter-final league match of the 127th Durand Cup, here today.
Sporting Clube de Goa, who led 2-1 at half time, scored through Karpeh (3rd, 7th minutes) and Anthony Wolf (60th) at the Raia ground.
The visitors, who put up improved performance in the second half, scored their goals in through Sankar Oraon (32nd) and Sujay Oraon (70th).
Sporting Clube de Goa, who have not performed well in the ongoing pro-league, looked a better side today as they controlled the proceeding from the start. The home team moved the ball around well with short passes and scored two early goals before the visitors could settle down.
Rowllin Borges, who took a free kick on the right, relayed the ball to Karpeh inside the box who uncorked an angular drive that beat rival keeper Ranajit Majumder all ends up in the third minute.
Karpeh again found the net four minutes latter with a rising shot when Anthony Wolfe put a forward pass to him after received the ball from the left from Mauvin Borges.

After the chance of ends, Sporting continued to enjoy better ball possession and increased the lead in the 60th minute from a penalty after Wolfe was brought down by a rival defender and referee Maria Joseph awarded a penalty to Sporting, which the striker converted himself.
United SC retaliated and after missing a few chances pulled another goal back in the 70th minute when Sujay Oraon scored from top of the box with a left footer that found the roof of the net.
The visitors did put pressure in search of the equaliser towards the end and Shankar Oraon came close but his shot was put out by the home team keeper Kamaljit to help his team garner full points from the match.
