"We have decided to pledge our one day's salary for the victims. The amount comes to about Rs 2 crore. These funds will be deposited in the PM's National Relief Fund soon," Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) chief B D Sharma told PTI here.
The Director General also said a small team of his force, deployed in the state for internal security-related duties, has begun relief and rescue works amongst the locals.
Meanwhile, other paramilitary units present in Kashmir like Border Security Force and CRPF have also begun rendering relief works and providing succour to the victims of one of the worst floods in the history of the state.
The personnel of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have, till now, evacuated over 31,000 people. It is airlifting 1,000 tents which will be distributed in Srinagar and areas adjoining it.
