Kashmir's street theatre special Laddi Shah on TV

In an attempt to revive Kashmir's special street theatre 'Laddi Shah', ETV is launching a weekly programme from tomorrow.
"ETV group will commence Laddi Shah programme from Aug 31 on ETV Urdu Kashmir", Rajesh Raina, Group Editor-ETV Network, said here today.
'Laddi Shah an age old art of story-telling has now become extinct in Kashmir, Raina said, adding that ETV Urdu has come forward to revive this dying art of Kashmir and present it to the new generation.
An artiste of repute Rajinder Tickoo has been roped in to present the weekly satirical segment, he said.
Traditional Kashmiri costumes and musical instrument will be used to present 'Laddi Shah'.

'Laddi Shah' is a particular variety of satirical ballads. A man stirs the iron rings strung on an iron rod and makes witty comments on the social issues.
Dressed in a Kashmiri pheran, white trousers and a white turban, Laddi Shah would arrive with his musical instrument and play musical notes and sing satire. Laddi Shah, the author himself communicates a particular message about the cultural, social and political vandalism.
