Kashmir University signs MoU with CSIR-NGRI

The MoU on Centre for Geophysical Education and Research, to be set up at the varsity here, was signed by Kashmir University VC, Talat Ahmad, and Director of CSIR-NGRI, a premier earth science research institute, Mrinal K Sen in the presence of Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra.

The agreement would provide a framework for enriching scientific endeavors in geophysical education and research through collaboration in developing new programmes and also facilitate people exchange in this regard, an official spokesman said.

Welcoming the signing of the MoU, Vohra, who is also Chancellor of the University, said "such understandings can go a long way in effectively meeting the challenges of global warming and climate change as well as better weather forecasting management."

He expressed hope that this step would help in undertaking meaningful research projects in the areas of hydrology and seismology so that adequate measures are taken to handle the problems arising on these fronts.

The Governor complimented Ahmad and his colleagues for taking several initiatives for reviving the academic atmosphere of the University and taking several measures for forging collaborations with other reputed institutions of higher learning.
