The movie is an an adaptation of Greg King's book "Sharon Tate and the Manson Murders," reported Deadline.
Bosworth's husband, filmmaker Michael Polish, will direct the film and write the screenplay.
Tate made her big-screen debut with the 1966 horror film "Eye of the Devil." The wife of director Roman Polanski was a rising Hollywood star when she was murdered by the Charles Manson Family.
Polish asserted he would "approach this film with a careful consideration, both from a visual sense and by crafting her story truthfully and with the dignity she deserves".
