According to The Hollywood Reporter, the 40-year-old "Titanic" star is in negotiations over a role in 20th Century Fox's adaptation of Charles Martin's 2010 bestselling novel.
The original book follows an engaged woman who charters a flight home to avoid weather delays.
She then meets a surgeon on the flight and falls in love, but when the plane crashes, the two must work together to survive the mountain wilderness.
"Paradise Now" helmer Hany Abu-Assad is directing the romantic drama, with Chris Weitz writing the most recent draft of the film.
