Kaushik Ganguly seeks to explore dark abyss of human psyche

Ace director Kaushik Ganguly says casting big stars does not matter to him and it is the subject which counts.
Kaushik, a little bit tense to see audience response in his upcoming Khaad after having wooed audiences with a cameo in Srijit Mukhopadhyay's Chotuskone, avers, "I don't believe in preachy films, dealing with all serious matters in life which may blow over the audience's head. I have taken the craft of making films seriously but I don't believe in getting bogged down with serious matters always."
Having taken names like Raima Sen, Ritwik Chakroborty, Saswata Chatterjee in brooding to breezy movies from Shabdo to 'Chhotoder Chhobi' on dwarfs, Kaushik, however, asserts, "I had never cast anybody for his box office value or popularity among cinegoing audiences."

"But yes you have to take someone who can deliver what I want before the camera," Kaushik says adding even the so-called stars turn up as on-scrren commoners in his film.
Coming to Khaad, which dwells on the psyche of 16 travlllers, trapped inside an overturned bus in a hilly terrain, Kaushik says, it seeks to explore the sense of nothingness in life in a sense.
"When you are starved of food and have to trek the undulating terrain for hours from the bus you come to terms with reality about the northingness of worldly comforts we have got used to in this technology-driven era," the Arekti Premer Galpo maker, having earned IFFI plaudits for twice, said.

Khaad, produced by Shri Venkatesh Films, stars popular Tollywood actors Tanusree Chakaroborty, Mimi, Rudranil Ghosh, Gargi Roy Choudhury, Saheb Bhattacharya among others.
