Over 500 people were killed and scores affected by the massive earthquake that struck Balochistan in September with maximum casualties and damage in Awaran district.
"He was briefed at the field Headquarter of Pakistan Army's formation undertaking relief and rehabilitation work," the military said.
"He reiterated the resolve that Pakistan Army, in collaboration with the government of Balochistan and concerned federal ministries, will continue the relief efforts despite attempts to disrupt relief work by miscreants," it said in a statement.
A total of six battalions and eight helicopters have been deployed for relief and rehabilitation work in the affected areas.
"The Army troops have, thus far, distributed around 6,000 tonnes of food items and 37,000 tents. Moreover, a well- equipped Army Field Hospital has also been functioning, round the clock, where more than 17,000 patients have been treated," it said.
Later, during interaction with local administration officials, Kayani assured continued support of the Pakiatan Army to the people of Awaran and the Balochistan government, till the settlement of the affected population.
