The Kaziranga Park authority has also decided to keep the Jeep and Elephant Safari excursions open to visitors from that date until further order, according to a government release today.
The Park situated in Golaghat and Nagaon districts of Assam is open daily from November one to April 30, unless due to rains in any exceptional year it has to be closed earlier by the management for safety reasons, KNP sources said.
The 430-sq km KNP remains closed from June to September annually due to the flood season and maintenance work of the Park, the sources said.
Kaziranga was declared a Tiger Reserve in 2006 due to its highest density of tigers among protected areas in the world.
Established in 1905 as a reserve forest, the Park had celebrated its centennial in 2005.
Elephant rides for visitors to see rhinos inside the Park daily begin from early in the morning at 5.15 am, while the Jeep safari rides are in the morning from 7.30 am and in the afternoon from 2 pm, they added.
