Rao, who held a meeting with ministers and officials on the programme, said priority should be given to protection of existing trees and saplings than to planting fresh saplings, a
release from his office said.
"I will formally launch the programme in Karimnagar on July 12 where a lakh saplings will be planted in the next fifteen days. 25,000 saplings will be planted on July 12th, (and) from the next day, 5,000 saplings per day should be planted," the release quoted him as saying.
