Presiding over a meeting with the officers of the Ambala district administration here, he said, "This should be done alongside the campaign to check power theft by people."
"Political leaders and officers are supposed to check any pilferage of revenue. Instead of playing the custodian, if they too indulge in robbery of the state exchequer, the law should come down on them as it does on ordinary people who indulge in theft," Khattar said.
The chief minister lauded the action initiated by the power utilities to curb electricity theft at government residences in Ambala and directed the officials concerned to provide 24-hour power supply under the 'Mhara Gaon Jagmag Gaon' scheme by reducing line losses in all feeders.
To tackle stray cattle menace, the chief minister directed to tag each animal and construct 'gaushalas' in urban and rural areas.
Later in the evening, Khattar took out his first road show in Ambala City. BJP MP from Ambala Rattan Lal Kataria, state minister Nayab Singh Saini and party MLA from Mullana, Santosh Sarwan accompanied the CM in an open jeep driven by local MLA Aseem Goel.
