Addressing a meeting here to mark 37th foundation day of the BJP, Fadnavis said Atal Bihari Vajpayee gave a direction to the party in 1980s, and it reached the peak under Narendra Modi's leadership.
"BJP is an ideology-driven party. Party workers think beyond themselves in the larger interest of the society," he said.
"There was a time when Congress' mass base was strong . But when individuals became bigger than the party and ideology, people found an alternative in the BJP," Fadnavis said.
People trust Prime Minister Modi's agenda of transparency and development, and the recent election results proved this, he said.
BJP should not betray the trust of the common man and should ensure a people-oriented and corruption-free government, he said.
