Twenty-one AAP MLAs appointed as parliamentary secretaries to Delhi ministers were today administered the oath of office by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal at a function held at Delhi Secretariat.
The parliamentary secretaries, appointed by Kejriwal, will assist ministers to ensure speedy implementation of work.
According to an official, the parliamentary secretaries will have their own offices so that they can meet people and hear their grievances. Fourteen rooms have been lying vacant for several years in the Assembly premises.
While appointing these party MLAs as parliamentary secretaries in March, the AAP government had said that they would not receive any remuneration or perks of any kind from the government - meaning no burden on exchequer.
The parliamentary secretaries, however, may use government transport for official purposes and space in the minister's office would be provided to them to facilitate their work.
