Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Lt Governor Najeeb Jung today joined the Yoga Day event at Rajpath here performing various asanas, albeit on different sides of the road.

The Chief Minister, who was accompanied by his deputy Manish Sisodia, and Jung kept their distance at the event where Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the International Yoga Day celebrations. Their presence generated much interest as Kejriwal government and Jung are engaged in a bitter power tussle in Delhi.

Kejriwal, who had undergone naturopathy treatment in the recent past, was seen actively performing the asanas with Sisodia by side. Jung was seated in an enclosure on the other side of the boulevard and the two did not exchange pleasantries.

"There should not be politics over Yoga. It is for physical well-being and mental concentration," Kejriwal told reporters.

The AAP government, however, has not organised any programme on the day, saying that when one big event is being held, another one "will not be required".

In April this year, Delhi government had also announced 'Vipasana' training for its school teachers aimed at lowering their stress levels and helping them inculcate "values" among students.
