Kejriwal reviews plan for decentralised STPs across Delhi

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today reviewed a plan for setting up decentralised sewage treatment plants (STPs) across Delhi, an official said.
Kejriwal held a meeting with senior officials of the Delhi Jal Board (DJB). He was briefed about the 600 sites identified in unauthorised colonies, villages and other areas for establishment of decentralised STPs.
According to the government, these STPs would not only solve the sewage crisis, but would also produce a huge amount of recycled water in the city.
In the first phase, STPs would be set up in these 600 locations.
Later, the DJB has to identify more locations for decentralised STPs, the government said in a statement.

It stated decentralised STPs would be installed and treated water would be used for different purposes such as water body recharge, horticulture and other non-potable uses.
A day after taking charge of the water department, Kejriwal had visited three decentralised STPs in areas under the New Delhi Municipal Council.
He visited the STPS in Nehru Park, Satya Sadan and NP Bangali Government School in Gole Market, and asked the DJB to come with a road map for decentralised STPs all over Delhi.
