Union Minister Nitin Gadkari today hit out at Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for his "uncalled for and unjustified" remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Kejriwal has triggered a political storm by spewing venom on Prime Minister Modi calling him a "coward and psychopath" after CBI raid on the office of his principal secretary yesterday.
"Neither the Prime Minister has given any instruction to the CBI, nor is there any interference in its functioning by the government. CBI has acted as an autonomous institution," Gadkari said while condemning the Delhi CM for his remarks.
"Kejriwal's allegations against PM are wrong, uncalled for and unjustified," the senior BJP leader told PTI.
"CBI works independently. It has nothing to do with the PMO or the government," he added.
Kejriwal had tweeted yesterday "When Modi cudn't handle me politically, he resorts to this cowardice. Modi is a coward and psychopath," sparking angry condemnation from BJP which demanded an apology from the chief minister for his "disgraceful" remarks.
The chief minister has claimed he was in fact the target and that Principal Secretary Rajendra Kumar was just an excuse.
A battery of BJP leaders and ministers have also condemned Kejriwal for his choice of words against the Prime Minister calling it condemnable and unwarranted and demanded apology.
