Ramon Magsaysay awardee Anshu Gupta and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today discussed ways and means to alleviate the plight of the homeless, especially during the winters, in the capital.
Gupta called on Kejriwal at the Delhi Secretariat where the two met for around 30 minutes. Deliberations were on homeless shelters and arranging warm clothes for its inmates, an official said.
"The Chief Minister told Gupta about the existing condition of the shelters, DUSIB's efforts towards improving them and the steps being taken by the government so that the homeless don't suffer in the coming winters," the official said.
Gupta also shared his ideas on their welfare and the Chief Minister invited more such suggestions in this regard.
Gupta, who founded 'Goonj' -- an NGO which works in the field of recycling used cloths, was awarded the prestigious Ramon Magasasay Award for his effort in recycling used cloths to make sanitary pads and other purposes.
