Several unions of municipal corporations safai karamcharis under the aegis of Joint Action Committee today met Kejriwal and his Deputy Manish Sisodia and raised the issue of their salaries not being paid to them for the last two months.
After listening to the unions, Kejriwal said he was working on the issue and he had directed officials to look into ways to solve it.
"I met the concerned officials and told them that this has to be done. Your problems of pending salaries are being sorted out. We will give you much more than what you got last year from the government," he said.
A statement by the Delhi government said that the Chief Minister will meet sanitation workers on June 8 at 5 pm at Ramlila Maidan and will announce steps taken for them.
A senior official said Kejriwal is expected to announce a funds package for sanitation workers who have not been getting their salaries for few months, senior official said.
During the meeting, he reiterated that there was nothing due on part of Delhi government, and it was the Centre which has not released Rs 600 crore meant for the MCD.
"If there is any such problem in Delhi Government tell me. If there is any such problem in NDMC tell me, but MCD is not under the Delhi Government," he said.
