Kekhrie Yhome files nomination for Northern Angami bypoll

Academician and social activist Kekhrie Yhome today filed his nomination for the by-election to the Northern Angami I assembly seat.
The 41 year old academician turned politician would be contesting the by-election as an Independent candidate against Nagaland People's Front (NPF) candidate and Chief Minister Shurhozelie Liezietsu in the July 29 bypoll.
Liezietsu had filed his nomination yesterday.
Interacting with media-persons after filing the nomination, Yhome said the remaining eight months for the term is long enough to carry forward many thing desired by the people.
Yhome said the people should decide whether it should be the power of money which should win or the voice of the public to be reinstated.
On pressures from the village elders not to contest the by-election, he said there were some "political stooges" from the opponent party but it is a democratic right and everybody has a right to contest.

On chances of wining, he optimistically said that "it would not be an easy sail but hope to be part of the government for the next eight months.
Today was the last date of filing nominations. Scrutiny of nomination will be done tomorrow and the last date of withdrawal of candidature is July 15.
Polling will be held across 25 polling stations from 7 am to 4 pm on July 29 while counting of votes will be done on August 3.
