Nambiar (86) is survived by wife Umadevi Nambiar and a son and a daughter.
"My father, Shri KPP Nambiar passed away in his residence at 7.50 pm due to age-related illnesses," Kiran Nambiar, son of K P P Nambiar, told PTI here.
Nambiar was honoured with Padma Bhushan in 2006. He was also was the president of the World Malayalee Council.
He was undergoing treatment at Mallya Hospital here for the past few days, but was discharged on June 28, Kiran said.

Nambiar served as Secretary to the Department of Electronics during late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi's tenure.
He was born and brought up at Kalliassery in Kannur and completed his higher studies in Mumbai and London.
After having started his career at Bharat Electronics, Nambiar worked with Texas Instruments in England and Tata in Mumbai. He also served as the chairman of the Indian Telephone Industries from 1986 to 1988.
