Kenstar appoints Milan Wahi as Chief Operations Officer

Consumer durables maker Kenstar has appointed Milan Wahi as its Chief Operations Officer with immediate effect.
He will oversee brand building, product development and distribution expansion for Kenstar, the company said.
"Wahi will be responsible for contributing to Kenstar's by and large strategy for establishing it as one of the most preferred premium small home appliances brands for consumers in India," Kenstar said in a statement.

Maxus bags mandate for Tata Group's Infiniti Retail * Global communications consultancy firm Maxus today said it has bagged the mandate for Tata Group firm Infiniti Retail.
The firm runs consumer durables and electronics chain of stores under brand, 'Croma'.
The mandate will cover the entire media end-to-end solutions for TV, Print, Digital, Radio, Cinema, Maxus said in a statement.

Lifestyle opens its 50th store in Lucknow * Fashion retailer chain Lifestyle today opened a 35000-sqft store in Lucknow, the company's 50th store in the country.

SUD Life launches 'Guaranteed Pension Plan'
* SUD Life (Star Union Dai-ichi Life Insurance), a joint venture between Bank of India, Union Bank of India and the Japan-based Dai-ichi Life, today launched a pension plan.
"Retirement planning has become a crucial step for growing India. The number of Indians over the age of 60 has hit an all-time high, accounting for 8.6 per cent of the country's 121 crore population - jumping to 35.5 per cent from 7.6 per cent in 2001 to 10.3 per cent in 2011," SUD Life Insurance MD and CEO Girish Kulkarni said in a release here.
Guaranteed Pension Plan provides a lump sum amount at retirement, which can be invested in an annuity helping policyholders generate lifelong income to meet their planned and unplanned financial needs in the golden years, he said.

Arvind Infra reports two fold increase in Q4 net at Rs 17.86cr * Realty player Arvind Infrastructure reported a two fold increase in net profit for the quarter ended March 31 at Rs 17.86 crore against Rs 8.77 crore year-ago on the back on higher sales.
Its total income for the period increased nearly three fold to Rs 90.95 crore from Rs 31.45 crore last fiscal.
"We have been performing well in spite of real estate market suffering from subdued consumer sentiments. The short term outlook is expected to remain low, though, in the medium to long term, positive outlook shall prevail on account of gradually reducing interest rates, formation of RERA Act, lower inflation and increased urbanisation," its MD and CEO Kamal Singal said.

Maha govt reduces VAT on LED bulbs and tubelights * To promote the use of LED bulbs and tubelights in the state, Maharashtra government has decided to reduce the VAT on them to 5.5 per cent from 12.5 per cent.
"The government has decided to reduce the VAT on LED bulbs and tube lights from to 5.5 per cent from 12.5 per cent as we aims to reduce energy consumption by 35-50 per cent within next few years," state Energy Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule said.

* Handset maker Lenovo today announced the launch of its new smartphone 'Vibe K5' in India, priced at Rs 6,999.
Successor to its A6000 smartphone, the Vibe K5 comes with a 5-inch display, 2GB RAM, 16GB memory, 13MP rear and 5MP front camera and 2750 mAh battery, Lenovo said in a statement.
The Vibe K5 will go on registrations today on Amazon.In and the first flash sale will take place on June 22.

Thinkphi raises angel funding
* Thinkphi, a clean-tech startup, today said it has raised angel funding from Nimmagadda Prasad, a serial entrepreneur.
Prasad has previously invested in ventures like Matrix Laboratories, Maa TV, Care Hospitals and Sachin Tendulkar's ISL team Kerala Blasters.
The angel round of funding will be deployed primarily towards expanding operations, R&D team and starting sales and distribution activities, it said in a statement.
It has made some early sales of its patented rainwater and solar harvesting product to customers like Godrej Interio and Rustomjee.

UrbanClap partners Juniper Networks for network infra * Network solutions provider Juniper Networks today said it has bagged a deal from UrbanClap to deploy its solutions at the services marketplace.
No financial details were disclosed.
With an existing customer base of over one million and an average of 150,000 requests monthly, UrbanClap required a high performance network infrastructure that could support future scalability, Juniper said in a statement.
Juniper's switching, security and routing solutions were selected as the solution to build a state-of-the-art, pay-as-you-grow networking infrastructure, it added.
