Acting on a tip off, the NCB sleuths along with some RPF personnel searched some of the coaches of the Delhi-Mumbai Garib Rath train at Kalupur Railway Station here and nabbed John William Best, 33, said NCB Zonal Director Hari Om Gandhi.
"Best was arrested after we found 587 grams of cocaine and 700 grams of amphetamine in his possession. The street value of this contraband is around Rs 6 crore in international market. These drugs were cleverly concealed in foot wears, tie boxes and headphone boxes," said Gandhi.
"Best claimed that he became a drug carrier for USD 100, which he was supposed to receive for the transshipment of the illegal drug to New Zealand after reaching Mumbai. However, his initial admissions are misleading and we are trying to unearth the entire racket," said Gandhi.
This is the second such major drug haul involving an foreign national in recent times.
