The Kerala government Wednesday approved its new public works policy for development of infrastructure by ensuring quality and use of latest technology.
The approval was given at a cabinet meeting chaired by chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
The main objectives of the policy included strengthening public transport sector and roads and raising road connectivity to international standards.
The policy also focuses on transparency and corruption-free implementation of projects.
According to the policy, the 1,627 km long Thiruvananthapuram-Kasaragod hill highway would be completed, besides the 656 km long coastal highway.
Roads leading to Sabarimala would be improved and contract given for seven years for its maintenance, a release said.
