Ker govt to retrieve land given to private party

The CPI(M)-led LDF government today decided to retrieve for tourism purposes the 24-acres of land at Veli here, assigned to a private party during the previous UDF regime.
A decision in this regard was taken at a meeting called by state Tourism Minister A C Moideen to discuss the steps to be taken for the tourism development at Veli area in the city.
Instructions have been issued to authorities concerned to retrieve the land allotted to a private party by the previous UDF government, a release said.
It said the development work would be carried out through Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board.
Projects to be implemented include a programme to modernise water sports, run by the Kerala Tourism Development Corporation, it said.
The minister directed the officials concerned to complete the work on a time bound basis.
