As the football world cup enters the last phase, the Kerala capital is gearing up to host a unique movie festival co-coinciding with the semifinals and the title clash.
A four-day 'soccer film festival' will woo both film lovers and football fans, screening a string of movies with the sport as the theme here on July 10, 11, 12 and 15, to be followed by telecast of the day's matches.
The Kerala Chalachitra Academy, with the support of city-based Street Library, will host the movie fest at the Manaveeyam Veedhi, a stretch dedicated to cultural activities here.
"Two Half-Times in Hell", a Hungarian movie directed by Zoltan Fabri revolving around a soccer match organised to celebrate Hitler's birthday, Emir Kusturica- directed "Maradona", Iranian film "Offside" directed by Jafar Panahi would be among the movies to be screened in the festival, Academy secretary Mahesh B said.
The movies would be screened at the Manaveeyam stretch in the night and it would be followed by live telecast of the ongoing World Cup matches on the big screen, he said.
