Kerala government today asked Centre not to proceed with the proposal to disinvest the Kerala based public sector HLL care Ltd formerly known as Hindustan Latex.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan in a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi wanted to stop the move to privatise the HLL Ltd, which was doing a "yeoman" service in the health sector.
Vijayan said Centre should not take a decision on this issue without consulting the state. Privatisation of the company will not only affect the employees but also the society in view of its contribution to the health sector, he said.
He also pointed out that state extended full support to the Company for its establishment by allotting 19 acres of land in the heart of the city.
The company should be retained in the public sector itself, he said.
