Janmashtami was celebrated with traditional gaiety and religious fervour across Kerala today.
Special poojas and rituals like "prasadamoott" (ceremonial feast) and "gopuja" (cow worship) were performed in Krishna temples in the state.
Long queues were seen before well-known shrines like Sree Krishna Temple in Guruvayur and Sree Padmanabha Swamy Temple here since early morning to offer worship to the deity during the day.
"Shoba yatras", the colourful pagentry organised by Hindu outfit Balagokulam marked the culmination of the festival in various places, attracting huge crowds.
People lined the main roads here to have a glimpse of the procession in which hundreds of children dressed up as Lord Krishna walked through the streets.
