Kerala govt extends PSC rank list till June 30

: The CPI(M)-led LDF government in Kerala today extended the rank list period of the Public Service Commission (PSC) by another six months till June 30, 2017.
A decision in this regard was taken at the Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, today.
The rank lists which had not been extended so far and due to expire on December 30, 2016 and March 31, 2017 have been extended till June 30, 2017, a government press release said today.
The Opposition Congress and BJP have been demanding the extension of PSC rank lists and the their youth wings were on a hunger strike, which they withdrew after the cabinet decision on the matter.
The names of C Sureshan, Executive Engineer, PWD, Kasaragod; M R Baiju, Professor Department of Electronics and Communications, Government Engineering college, Thiruvananthapuram; Jinu Sakaria Oommen and Adv Ragunathan M K, Thrissur were recommended to the state governor by the cabinet, for appointment in the 4 vacancies in the PSC.
An in principle decision was taken at the meeting, to implement Kerala Administrative Service in 30 departments, including General Administration and Finance in the Secretariat here.

The council of ministers also decided to revise the monthly allowances to retired Chief Justices and Judges.
While a retired chief justice would draw Rs 14,000 as against the previous allowance of Rs 10,000, the retired judges will get Rs 12,000 from the present Rs 8000.
For the construction of depot/yard of the Light Metro Rail project, the government would allot 19,54 acres of land in Pallipuram village in Thiruvananthapuram, free of cost, it said.
The cabinet also decided to recommend to the governor to give special remission to 1860 prisoners in the state in view of the celebration of 60th year of the state's formation, besides releasing 8 life convicts in the Kannur central jail as per the advise of the prison's advisory committee.
