Allowing an appeal by Ashokan, a division bench comprising justices C N Ramachandran Nair and C K Abdul Rahim directed the government to immediately restore his appointment based on the first notification issued by Kerala Governor, who is the Chancellor of the university.
Earlier, a lower court had upheld the government action cancelling the appointment of Ashokan, following which he approached the high court.
The bench held that appointment was made by the Chancellor and the government cannot cancel or override the same.
