In a novel initiative, Kerala's Chengannur MLA has launched a mobile-based application to enhance connectivity with people and ensure public scrutiny of various development initiatives in the constituency.
Congress legislator P C Vishnunath, who represents Chengannur constituency in the state assembly, brought out the innovative app, providing a platform for public to submit their complaints and give suggestions.
Called "Proud Chengannur", the application features a comprehensive history of Chengannur, former leaders hailing from there, details of various development programmes initiated by the MLA in the constituency and a user-friendly telephone directory.
The two-time MLA said the app would give people an easy access to their legislator and ensure transparency in his activities.
"It is for the first time that a constituency-based mobile application is launched in the state by an MLA. It is designed in a user-friendly manner. Anybody from the constituency can easily download it and submit their complaints and suggestions from anywhere in the world," Vishnunath told PTI.
He said Chengannur, located in central Kerala, has large number of non-resident Keralites residing in various parts of the world and they would be the highest beneficiaries of the newly-launched app.

"If the NRKs want to lodge a complaint or bring any issue related to the constituency to the notice of the MLA, they can easily alert me through the app. They can even send pictures or other documents through it," he said.
The telephone directory in the app has important phone numbers including that of health, transport and police departments across the state.
Any android smartphone user can download the application easily from the Google playstore, the legislator added.
