Discussions in this regard were held by GAIL's Director (Projects) R D Goyal with state chief secretary Sajan Peter and other officials today.
The Rs 3263 crore project involved laying 1156 Km long pipelines in Kochi-Koottanad-Bangaore-Mangalore stretches, Goyal told reporters after meeting the officials.
The project would comprise 107 km Kochi-Koottanad, 347 km Koottanad-Mangalorem, 462 Km koottanad-Bangalore, including 240 Km spur lines.
The entire stretch was to be commissioned in two phases.
For land acquisition, the notifications had been published and permissions and clearance of the Pollution Control Board obtained, he said.
The pipeline project would have connectivity with gas resources such as PLL-Kochi and Dhabol LNG,having connectivity with eco-friendly source of fuel.
Besides boosting development of infrastructure, power generation and transport sector, the project would also bring an estimated tax revenue of minimum Rs 500 crore to the state, Goyal said.

GAIL had also entered into a tie-up with the state's industrial promotion agency KSIDC for developing the city gas distribution system.
Regarding the apprehensions expressed by people in some areas, Goyal said all safety and pollution-control parameters would be would be followed to avoid possibilities of accidents.
