"Both Kerala and Tamil Nadu top the list in providing proper health care to its people through implementation of various schemes," M K Raghavan, one among 11 committee members and an MP representing Kozhikode in Kerala, told reporters.
The team, led by its Chairman Satish Chandra Mishra, inspected facilities at Coimbatore Medical College Hospital and also talked to patients about its functioning.
Raghavan said the committee would submit its report to the Centre after getting a feedback from officials, doctors, nurses and public on the shortcomings and also requirements.
The team would also inspect facilities in the Government Hospital in Nilgiris, Raghavan said, adding that it would also review treatment being provided under various schemes being implemented by the Health Ministry.
He said NDA government has announced upgradation of each district hospital into medical colleges hospitals so that the poor got good and affordable treatment.
Tamil Nadu health secretary, Radhakrishnan gave details about schemes being implemented by the State government like free treatment in government hospitals, marriage assistance, maternity and insurance schemes.
