A number of key infrastructure projects under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) was yet to be completed in the national capital, though the flagship scheme's extended deadline came to an end on March 31.
The implementing authorities are now awaiting further directions from the Union Urban Development Ministry, the nodal agency of the city modernisation scheme.
The mission's deadline, which was extended by two years after the expiry of its seven-year term in 2012, ended on March 31 and since then there has been no further direction about the second phase from the Union ministry, Delhi government officials said.
At this points 13 projects in Delhi, including two of Public Works Department (PWD) and Delhi Jal Board (DJB), one project of New Delhi Municipal Council and seven projects of MCD bodies, are still underway, the officials said.
Some of the key projects which are yet to be completed are the Signature bridge, sewage treatment plants at Nilothi and Pappankalan, redevelopment of Connaught Place (though NDMC claimed 98 per cent work has been completed), covering of nullahs at Press Enclave and Nauraji Nagar and construction of multi-level underground conventional parking facility.
According to the officials, due to various constraints like delay in getting approval from concerned agencies the projects are yet to be completed.
