Key militant arrested in Bangladesh

A key militant of the banned Jamaa'tul Mujahideen involved in a series of major bomb attacks was today arrested with explosives in Bangladesh, police said.
Ershad Hossain alias Mamun, is the chief of JMB's Chittagong district unit, police said.
Gunpowder, material used for making grenades and Jihadi books were found in the house, the police was quoted as saying by The Dhaka Tribune.
JMB, campaigning for establishment of Islamic rule in Bangladesh, carried out a series of bombings in 63 out of the country's 64 districts, including the capital city of Dhaka on August 17, 2005 which left two people dead and 150 others injured.

Hundreds of JMB leaders and activists were rounded up while six top leaders of the group, including chief Shaikh Abdur Rahman, were hanged in 2007. Rahman founded the group in 1998.
