KHADC and JHADC election notification to be issued on Feb 5

The Meghalaya government today said that notification for the elections to the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) and Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) slated on February 24, will be issued on February 5.
"The formal notification, the date for calling the constituencies to elect their representatives will be issued on February 5," Commissioner and Secretary in-charge of political department Jopthiaw Lyngdoh told reporters at a news conference held her.
The filing of nomination papers will start from February 5 and the last date will be on February 10, till 3 pm to be followed by scrutiny of nomination papers after 3 pm, he informed.

The last date for withdrawal of nomination papers has been fixed on February 12 and finalization of publication and valid nomination and allocation of symbols will be on February 13, he said.
He said that the date for of polls to the two ADCs will be held on February 24 and counting will be on January 27.
