Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu today expressed keen interest of joining hands with the United Kingdom to hone the talent of youths in the state in the fields of education, music, culture and sports.
Such cooperation will prepare Arunachali youths for 21st century skills and improve their employability, Khandu said while talking to a British Council delegation led by its Director Alan Gemmell, a CMO communique said.
He inquired on support structure and nature of courses offered in the UK through British Council scholarship programmes and asked the delegation to come up with training programmes for school students in subjects like English, Maths and Computer Science.
Gemmell said that as the Council's priority area was teaching English it has developed a new methodology to teach the language at primary and middle level schools, which would improve soft skills of students and give them the edge for employability.
The chief minister said that the state government would work out ways to avail programmes being launched by the British Council through the DONER Ministry, the communique added.
