Khanna to get separate District Congress Committee

The All-India Congress Committee has decided to set up a separate District Congress Committee (DCC) for the Khanna area which earlier was part of the DCC for Ludhiana (Rural).
Lakhbir Singh Lakha has been appointed the first president of the Khanna DCC while Harinder Singh Bhambri was named as the chief of the DCC for Fatehgarh Sahib, a Congress release said here today.

The proposal for a separate DCC for Khanna had been mooted by Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) President Partap Singh Bajwa, the release added.
Now, the Assembly segments of Khanna, Samrala and Payal will be part of DCC Khanna. The five Assembly seats of Dakha, Gill, Jagraon, Raikot and Sahnewal will remain as part of DCC Ludhiana (Rural), the release stated.
