He also mourned the death of three other soldiers who were killed in another encounter at Hajin in Bandipora district of Kashmir yesterday.
In a condolence message, the Chief Minister saluted the extraordinary courage exhibited by the martyrs and said brave soldiers were always ready to sacrifice their lives to safeguard the honour of the nation.
In the message, Khattar said Major Satish Dahiya would continue to live in the hearts of the people of the state through his brave deeds.
Major Dahiya, who was with 30 Rashtriya Rifles, belonged to Banihari village of Mahendragarh district. He had joined the Army in 2009.
He is survived by his wife Sujata Devi and two-and-a-half- year-old daughter Priya.
