Khattar directs officials to check stray cattle menace

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar today directed all the Deputy Commissioners and Commissioners of Municipal Corporations in the state to prepare a comprehensive plan to effectively check the menace of stray cattle.
Presiding over a meeting of Deputy Commissioners and Commissioners of Municipal Corporations through video conferencing here today, Khattar said that the number of accidents is increasing due to stray cattle like cow, bull and calf.
He directed that adequate arrangements should be made either on the Panchayat land in villages or in Gaushalas to keep such cattle, adding about 200 to 300 stray cattle could be kept in each Gaushala.
While Rs 15 lakh have already been released to all the Deputy Commissioners for this purpose, additional Rs 35 lakh would soon be released, an official release quoted him as saying.
People in Haryana have immense faith in cows and the state government is committed to ensure their safety and security, he added.
While reviewing the progress of Gram Sachivalayas, the Chief Minister directed the Deputy Commissioners to ensure that these remain functional.

He said that it has come to his notice that though, Gram Sachivalayas have been constructed, yet they are non-functional at some places.
Khattar directed them to personally visit the Gram Sachivalayas to see whether the Common Service Centres (CSCs) are in working order or not.
Besides, they would also ensure that Patwari (revenue official), Sarpanch and other required staff remain present in the Gram Sachivalayas so that the important works of the people do not suffer, he said.
The Chief Minister directed the officials to make necessary arrangements to avert the problem of water logging in urban areas to keep a check on the occurrence of water-borne diseases.
He also asked them to conduct regular fogging to prevent the breeding of mosquitoes.
He said special care needs to be taken in the areas adjoining the national capital due to the spread of chikungunya in Delhi.
Besides this, he directed officials to identify those villages where 50 to 100 acres of land is affected due to stagnation of water so that necessary steps could be taken to resolve this problem.
Khattar directed the Deputy Commissioners to hold regular meetings of District Level Clearance Committee (DLCC) for the grant of No Objection Certificates (NOC) under the Enterprises Promotion Policy of the state government.
He said that the DLCC is empowered to clear the projects with investment up to Rs 10 crore and Change of Land Use (CLU) cases up-to one acre in conforming zones. He asked the officials to look after the government lands so they are not encroached upon.
He also directed them to ensure the maintenance of about 550 small and big stadia in the State through the public involvement and rope in renowned sportspersons, sarpanches and retired teachers.
