Khattar directs senior officers to ensure smooth Kanwar Yatra

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar today instructed the senior officers to complete all arrangements to ensure that the kanwaria pilgrims do not face any inconvenience.

Khattar was presiding over a meeting with the state deputy commissioners and superintendents of police through video-conference to review the arrangements for Kanwar Yatra, an annual pilgrimage to carry water from the Ganga and offer it to Lord Shiva.

The chief minister directed the officers to make arrangements regarding law and order, medical facility, availability of water and toilets, besides ensuring smooth traffic while deciding the routes for the pilgrims, known as kanwarias, an official release said.

A meeting was also held with the officers of Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh and several decisions were taken to ensure its smooth completion, said Muhammad Akil, additional director general of police (law and order).

The ADGP said he would review the arrangements with the station house officers and deputy superintendents of police of their respective areas.

Additional police force will be made available in the districts. All deputy commissioners and superintendents of police have been asked to ensure installation of boards at significant places to guide the kanwarias, Akil said,
