Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister said that keeping in view the importance, the memorial, located on the National Highway 1, would be developed on the level of international standards and would be spread over sprawling 22 acres of land.
He said that six thematic parks would be developed, which among other things would highlight the policies of the erstwhile East India Company and its impact on people and the impact of 1857 mutiny on the Britishers.
It would be developed jointly by PWD (B&R), Information, Public Relations and Cultural Affairs Department and Architecture Department.
He said that required funds would be provided by the government for this purpose on a priority basis.
"The people, especially the youth will get inspiration from the sacrifices made by our brave martyrs. Setting up of such a unique memorial will also provide new identity to Ambala," he added.
Among others present on the occasion included Haryana Health Minister Anil Vij, who is the MLA from Ambala Cantonment Assembly constituency.
