Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Sunday visited village Thana Kalan in Sonipat district to express condolences to the family members of martyr Narender Singh.
On the occasion, Khattar announced that the state government will provide a government job to a family member of the Border Security Force (BSF) jawan who was killed by Pakistani troops on September 18.
"Martyr Narender Singh sacrificed his life for the country and today we are with the family in their hour of grief. It is our responsibility to take care of the family," said Khattar.
"The country is proud of Narender Singh," he added.
An ex-gratia amount of Rs 50 lakh was given to the family. Apart from this, the OBC bank will provide a financial aid of Rs 2.21 lakh to them, said the chief minister.
Khattar further said a government school in the village would be named after Singh and a memorial will also be set up as a tribute to Singh.
Pakistani troops had slit the throat of the BSF jawan after fatally shooting him along the international border (IB) near Jammu.
