Khattar mourns demise of 102-year-old freedom fighter

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar today expressed grief over the demise of a 102-year-old freedom fighter, Mawasi Ram.
The Chief Minister described Ram, a soldier in the Indian National Army, a great freedom fighter.
"Mawasi Ram was born in village Khoh in 1914, and reached Japan in 1939 after being recruited by the British Army. There, he joined the Indian National Army and fought for India's independence. He was jailed on multiple occasions and retired in 1945," a Haryana Government release said here.
Mawasi Ram was cremated with full state honours at his native village Khoh in Gurgaon today, the release said.
Ram is survived by two sons who serve in the Army, four daughters, two grandsons and two great-grandsons.
